A DISCLAIMER ABOUT LANGUAGES (in English for my non-Francophone friends...shame on you):
I am going to try to write this blog in both English and French. Sometimes it may just be in English if I'm feeling lazy, but when I write in French there will always be an English translation ( placed underneath because French is better). Apologies in advance for those who can read French - I'm going to try to write as well as I can but time constraints might mean that my French is a little shoddy (but at least that way you'll know that I'm not using Google Translate)!
D'accord, on y va! Oui, oui, je sais que je suis UN PEU en retard avec ce blog: pour quatre semaines je disais "je dois commencer à écrire...demain!" parce que en fait il y a trop de choses à faire ici (je ne me plains pas, c'est merveilleux)! Un p'tit résumé: je suis arrivée à Nantes le 10 Janvier et depuis ce moment-là je m'amuse bien! J'habite avec une famille française d'accueil (Marie-Hélène, Nicolas, Emmanuelle et Florence) et ils sont tellement sympas, généreux, intéressants et j'en passe! Je suis en train d'étudier à IRFFLE (l'Institut de Recherche et de Formation en Français Langue Étrangère) qui est basé à l'Université de Nantes - en bref, je prends des cours en français jusqu'à juin quand je prendrai des examens pour obtenir un Diplôme Universitaire et aussi le DALF C1 (trop ennuyeux d'essayer d'exprimer). J'ai des classes de l'écriture, la lecture et l'expression orale mais aussi au sujet de la culture française, la littérature française et l'histoire française. L'objectif? DEVENIR FRANÇAISE! ON PEUT RÊVER!!! Mais au même temps je fais des amis de partout dans le monde (vraiment, j'ai des amis!) et avec eux je veux passer du bon temps, découvrir la belle ville de Nantes, apprendre la culture française et devenir plus large d'esprit. Sentimental, non?!
J'espère vraiment que vous s'amuserez bien en lisant mon blog et que peut-être vous apprendrez quelque chose de la nouveauté! En écrivant ce blog, je veux bien-sûr pratiquer et améliorer mon français écrit mais aussi noter les trucs que je trouve fascinant à Nantes. Avertissement - j'ai déjà un mois des souvenirs/photos/pensées/anecdotes pour partager avec vous donc attendez une véritable inondation des articles (si je trouve le temps!)
C'est tout pour maintenant, j'ai des devoirs (mince!)

An English translation (pour les nuls....LOL JK) (N.B. This will not be a word-for-word translation so you can't use it for your homework, sorry! Also, apologies if my English sounds a little wooden. I have become used to the French syntax and have consequently forgotten how to speak good English!)
Ok, here goes! Yes, yes, I know I am a LITTLE bit late with this blog: for four weeks I've been saying "I must start writing...tomorrow!" because actually there is too much to do here (I'm not complaining, it's wonderful)! A little summary: I arrived in Nantes on 10th January and since then I've been having a great time! I live with a French host family (Marie-Hélène, Nicolas, Emmanuelle and Florence) and they are truly lovely, generous, interesting...I could go on! I am currently studying at IRFFLE (no point translating what the acronym stands for but essentially it's where you learn French as a foreign language) which is based in the University of Nantes - basically, I am taking French classes until June when I will take exams to get a University Diploma and the DALF C1 (too boring to try to explain). I have classes in writing, reading and spoken French but also on French culture, literature and history. The objective? BECOME FRENCH! WE CAN ALL DREAM!!! But at the same time I am making friends from all over the world (really, I have friends!) and with them I want to have a good time, discover the beautiful city of Nantes, learn about French culture and become more open-minded. Sentimental, right?!
I really hope that you have fun reading my blog and that maybe you'll learn something new! In writing this blog, I want to practise and improve my written French, of course, but I also want to note down things that I find interesting in Nantes. Warning - I already have a month's worth of memories/photos/thoughts/anecdotes to share with you so expect a veritable deluge of posts (if I find the time!)
